This drill serves two purposes 1. Utilising number advantage when attacking and 2. Slowing attack when defense is outnumbered.
Initially the drill uses nine players; a keeper, three defenders, and five attackers.
The five attacking players should spread out in a semi circle.
Starting point:
One attacking player has a ball and the three defenders are positioning themeselves to provide pressure, cover and balance in order to shut down the attack.
Organization:
You can use bibs or jerseys with different colours.
The attackers will at first not attempt to move forward to score but they should pass the ball around them. the defenders try to position themselves by rotating and shifting.
Next step is for the attackers to move and try to score while defenders are trying to slow them down and/or win the ball.
Variations:
Add more attackers to seven while defenders remain the same.
Change the starting point; keeper taking a kick to the centre of the pitch where the attackers are.
